Artificial intelligence inside our mobile phones

comparison on A.I.

Artificial intelligence on mobile phones has entered the daily routine of people. The question we should ask ourselves is which one of them could be our best virtual assistant ? It is true that digital assistants have been around already around for decades. Some of you perhaps remember the irritating assistant created by Microsoft word named  Clippy, this was back in 1997.

However today this is a whole another story. Digital assistants are being installed in our lives with the purchase of mobile. Whether that would be Cortana (Microsoft), Google Now by Android platform or Siri by iPhone, they are all very advanced assistants. The virtual assistance can remind you or assist you with almost everything, for instance, setting your schedule for the week, or by simply reminding you to pick up dog food on the way back from work. Armored with accurate and remarkable voice recognition and artificial intelligence you name it they do it. Now let’s take a closer look into each one of that artificial intelligence on mobile phones or just digital assistants, this article will compare them and see which one perhaps might be the best suite for you.

Siri-vs-Google-Now-vs-Cortana

When Siri (iPhone) first launched on October 4, 2011; 4 years ago (source), it was a subject to many skepticism, but through the years the technology was refined constantly, so that Siri can now speak more regional or national accents and deal with wider range of different voices. With Siri you can search the web, make calls, open apps, send tweets, send SMS, set alarms, change phone settings, update status on Facebook and much more. This means not only it is trying to understand not only words but full sentences.

let’s review Google now. Google Now is for android phones with version 4 or higher. Using Google now can vary depending on your phone but the usually the way it is activated by holding your finger down on your home button until it pops out. Google now is not assistant  primarily driven by voice, so you do not need to talk to it. Instead of that, Google now relies on more information through info cards. You get information such as route of public transport, weather change or new content on your browsing history. It is gathering information in a more organic way as you’re using your smartphone but still, it knows directly what are your preferences. As creepy as this sounds, Google Now knows you best, why ? It has the staggering collection of personal data that really borders between super convenient or super unsettling for the user.

Cortana in Windows 10 ? Cortana is available both for desktop and a mobile version for Windows. She is serving as search part. You can both talk and type to Cortana. She is like intelligent analyzer of text and voice assistant, very similar to Siri. You can also configure personal assistant, for example, if you say : ” hey Cortana ” she starts listening to your voice. You can tune her up about information of your life, or interests such as hours when you do not feel like being disturbed and many other interesting options. Cortana can also identify music, offer advice for traveling, make notes, check the status of your flight, send text messages, make calls, show local restaurants events and much more.

Google Now

Which one of these is the best ? Its hard to pick. Google Now and Cortana are more dynamic and cleverly programmed then Siri. Siri is more of a movie version virtual assistant, even though out of all 3 systems Siri is most comfortable with the language and has the best personality. On the other hand, Google now and Siri offer more slick experiences and are more consistent than Cortana, which is also the youngest in the team. I think if I had to choose the best from those 3 it would have to be Google Now. It could be lacking a little bit of personality. However  when it comes to accurate approach and consistency while being pro active and smart might come on the top on the list for some people.
